Let "Hertz" put you in the drivers seat. This was the commerical jingle in the 60's created by the Hertz rental car agency to appeal to young business executives traveling through major US airports. After making reservations depending on availabities you would pick up the keys at Hertz rental car counters at the airports and at $17.00 a day and 17 cents a mile, you would be ready to experience a watered down version of the popular Shelby GT-350 mustang that was sweeping the national race scene with wins. Carrol Shelby contracted to supply 1000 of these GT-350 H's to Hertz and after 6 mos. of rental duty the mustang would be returned to Ford to be sold to the public. This Hertz Mustang #964 was built in El Segundo, CA. And shipped to Herff Ford dealership in Tenn. in Feb. 1966, after passing through 4 owners and spending its entire life in Tenn. and Ark. area this Hertz returned to CA in the 90's. In 2011 after my purchase it was my desire to restore and present her beauty and history of that day, when I as a 16 yr old first set eyes on a Shelby. What a vision that was !
